Winner of the 2016 Deutsche Bank Award for Creative Enterprise Trophy Commission, Luke Twigger
We are delighted to announce that the winner of this year’s commission is Adeline de Monseignat.
We were looking for the best of today’s emerging artistic talent to design and produce trophies to be presented to the winners of the Deutsche Bank Awards for Creative Enterprise (DBACE). This national competition for graduating art students is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The Awards help the next generation of creative entrepreneurs turn their ideas into reality by providing winners with start-up capital, enterprise training and mentoring. The categories are: Craft and Design; Film; Art and Photography; Music; Performance. The Awards are part of the Bank’s global enterprise programme Made for Good, which supports the success of pioneering ideas and business models to help drive positive change in society.
This opportunity is understood as a commission to create a trophy, rather than to create an artwork to be used for a trophy. We clarify this distinction to remove the pressure on the artist to marry their practice with the specifics of the brief if this proves difficult. Each trophy will be supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity as a handmade design, rather than for one of the selected artist’s artworks. Differently put: The winning artist will be commissioned to design an award in contrast to create an artwork.
